On page 1, line 26 of the amendment, after "education" strike "must" and insert "may"
On page 2, line 2 of the amendment, after "materials" strike "must" and insert "should"
On page 2, line 3 of the amendment, after "may" strike "not"
On page 2, line 5 of the amendment, after "education" strike "must be consistent" and insert "should be as consistent as practicable"
EFFECT: Public schools that offer sexual health education may
assure that it is medically and scientifically accurate, age-
appropriate, appropriate for students regardless of gender, race,
disability statute, or sexual orientation, and include information
about abstinence and other methods of preventing unintended pregnancy
and sexually transmitted disease.
Abstinence education may be taught to the exclusion of other
materials and instruction. Sexual health education should be as
consistent as practicable with the guidelines for sexual health
information and disease prevention.
