Staff Summary of Public Testimony:
(In support) This bill should be passed because it will encourage more ethical behavior on the
part of public officials and eliminate potential conflicts of interest. The amendatory language
improves the bill by making it more specific. The bill would prohibit a county commissioner
from providing paid legal or consulting services to a county board, as well as prohibit similar
arrangements that present potential ethical issues.
(Opposed) None.
