Background:
Vehicles may not be left unattended unless the engine is off, the ignition is locked, the key is
removed, the brake is set, and the wheels are turned toward the side of the road when the vehicle
is on a hill.
Summary of Bill:
Vehicles may be left unattended with the engine running for the purpose of operating defrosting
equipment to remove ice, snow, or condensation under the following circumstances: the ignition
is locked, the key is removed, the brake is set, and the wheels are turned toward the side of the
road when the vehicle is on a hill.
Appropriation: None.

Effective Date: The bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
