Brief Summary of Bill |
|
Hearing Date: 2/5/08
Staff: Linda Merelle (786-7092).
Background:
Substitute SB 5533, which was passed in the 2007 session, repealed RCW 10.77.090, relating to
competency restoration and civil commitment following dismissal of a criminal case, and
replaced it with three new code sections. Several other statutes still reference RCW 10.77.090,
which is no longer in effect. Substitute SB 5533 also changed the eligibility criteria for
competency restoration treatment in non-felony cases. As a result, certain definitions and other
sections in Chapter 10.77 RCW are obsolete.

This legislation corrects references to sections Chapter 10.77 RCW which have been repealed
and removes obsolete definitions and references.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Not requested.
Effective Date: The bill contains an emergency clause and takes effect immediately.
