WHEREAS, The Senate adopted permanent rules for the 2007-2009
biennium under Senate Floor Resolution 8601 in 2007; and
WHEREAS, The notice requirements set forth in Senate Rule 35 have
been satisfied; and
WHEREAS, The Senate desires to establish the office of Senate
Historian;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That Rule 5 is amended as follows:
Rule 5. 1. The subordinate officers of the senate shall perform
such duties as usually pertain to their respective positions in
legislative bodies under the direction of the president, and such other
duties as the senate may impose upon them. Under no circumstances
shall the compensation of any employee be increased for past services.

2. The senate shall elect a senate historian who shall perform the
usual duties pertaining to that office, and shall hold office until a
successor has been elected.
