SB 6249 - DIGEST

Finds that: (1) Every child is unique. They have different interests, talents, skills, and personalities and come from homes with different cultures, socio-economic levels, and education levels;

(2) Too often children are labeled in a negative context because of these differences;

(3) The legislature needs to redesign the negative labels, especially those labels that the state uses for children; and

(4) Instead of negative labels such as "at risk," "in poverty," "from poverty," and "disadvantaged," a positive characterization should be used.
