Requires the secretary of the department of social and health services to establish an independent public safety review panel to advise the secretary and the courts, with respect to persons who have been found not guilty by reason of insanity, with recommendations: (1) For a change in commitment status; |
(2) To allow furloughs or temporary leaves accompanied by staff; or |
(3) To permit movement about the grounds of the treatment facility. |
Requires the institute for public policy, in collaboration with the department of social and health services and other applicable entities, to undertake a search for validated mental health assessment tools. |
