Brief Description: Making technical corrections to department of early learning statutes.

  • Corrects erroneous language and removes obsolete references from the Department of Early Learning statutes.

Background:

Prior to July 1, 2006, the Department of Early Learning (DEL) existed within the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) as the Division of Childcare and Early Learning. When statutory authority was transferred, several obsolete references to the DSHS were left in code.

Also, outdated descriptions, such as "handicapped children," persist in code.

Summary of Bill:

The following changes are made to DEL statutes:

Effective Date: The bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of the session in which the bill is passed.
