Background: The Motorcycle Safety Education Advisory Board was created to assist the Director of Licensing in the development of a motorcycle operator training education program.
The board monitors the program and reports to the Director of Licensing as necessary with recommendations regarding administration, application, and substance of the motorcycle operator training and education program.
Currently, the law requires that the board meet at the call of the director, but not less than two times annually and not less than five times during its term of appointment.
Summary of Bill: The bill as referred to committee not considered.
Summary of Bill (Recommended Substitute): The board must meet quarterly and no longer at the call of the director.
One member of the board must be a currently employed Washington State Patrol officer with at least five years of experience and at least one year cumulative experience as a motorcycle officer or motorcycle instructor or one year of other professional experience in the field of motorcycle safety and education.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Not requested.
