AN ACT Relating to centralizing financial aid administration for community and technical colleges; and adding a new section to chapter 28B.50 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1   A new section is added to chapter 28B.50 RCW to read as follows:
     (1) The college board shall act as a clearinghouse for all state and federal financial aid awarded to students in the state's community and technical college system and shall be the single point of contact for all community or technical college students applying for financial aid. The college board shall develop standardized informational material and application procedures that are accessible in written form and through a college board web site.
     (2) By August 2012, all financial aid functions performed by individual college districts shall be transferred to the college board.
     (3) The college board shall disclose all information necessary for compliance with RCW 28B.15.0681 and 28B.76.300(4) to each college district.
