Title: An act relating to Purple Heart license plates.
Brief Description: Authorizing the issuance of Purple Heart license plates for more than one motor vehicle.

Background: A registered owner of a motor vehicle in Washington State who has served in the armed forces and has been awarded a Purple Heart medal may qualify for a Purple Heart license plate. Purple Heart license plates must be issued without the payment of an additional special license plate fee. Surviving spouses or domestic partners may also qualify for a Purple Heart license plate.
Summary of Substitute Bill: Qualified individuals are eligible to buy additional plates at a cost of $40 for the initial fee, and $30 upon renewal. The original plates will remain free of charge. Revenue must be deposited into the Veterans' Stewardship Account for the following:
providing programs and services for homeless veterans;
establishing memorials honoring veterans; and
maintaining a future state veterans' cemetery.
