On page 1, beginning on line 15, after "information" strike all material through "and" on page 2, line 22 and insert "about abstinence and other methods of preventing unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. All sexual health information, instruction, and materials must be medically and scientifically accurate. Abstinence may not be taught to the exclusion of other materials and instruction on contraceptives and disease prevention. A school may choose to use separate, outside speakers or prepared curriculum to teach different content areas or units within the comprehensive sexual health program as long as all speakers, curriculum, and materials used are in compliance with this section. On page 2, line 24, after "instruction." insert "The comprehensive sexual health education must emphasize the importance of refusal skills training, which means a set a skills designed to help children avoid participating in high-risk behaviors. Programs designed to discourage crime, drug use, violence, or sexual activity frequently include refusal skills in their curricula to help students resist peer pressure while maintaining self-respect."

EFFECT:  Removes content requirements regarding the comprehensive sexual health education. Instead, requires the comprehensive sexual health education to emphasize the importance of refusal skills training, which means a set a skills designed to help children avoid participating in high-risk behaviors.
