Background:

A person seeking to use an off-road vehicle on either a temporary or permanent basis must obtain a permit or register the vehicle with the Department of Licensing (DOL). A person registering an off-road vehicle must obtain a decal that serves the same function as a license plate for on-road vehicles. A fee is required for a temporary permit, registration, or decal. Fees must be distributed to the Recreation and Conservation Funding Board at least once a year for the purposes of off-road recreation facilities. The DOL may retain a portion of the proceeds, not to exceed 18 percent of collections, for the administration of the DOL's obligations under the chapter of law governing off-road, nonhighway, and wheeled all-terrain vehicles.

In 2010 the Legislature enacted a law that reorganized the body of law governing vehicle and vessel registration and titling. In the section of the law governing the disposition of fees collected for off-road vehicle registrations, permits, and decals, the references to the chapter of law governing off-road, nonhighway, and wheeled all-terrain vehicles, and to the Recreation and Conservation Funding Board, were inadvertently left uncorrected.

Corrections are made to the references to the chapter of law governing off-road, nonhighway, and wheeled all-terrain vehicles, and to the Recreation and Conservation Funding Board, within the section of law governing the disposition of fees collected for off-road vehicle registrations, permits, and decals.
