Brief Description: Adjusting stop signal requirements for school buses.

Brief Summary of Bill

  • Modifies the specifications of stop signals that school buses must be equipped with such that they must meet or exceed federal standards.

Background:

Every school bus and private carrier bus shall be equipped with a stop signal upon a background not less than 14 x 18 inches displaying the word "stop" in letters of distinctly contrasting colors not less than 8 inches high.

Summary of Bill:

The specific height of the letters in the word "stop" is removed and a requirement to meet or exceed federal standards is added.

Effective Date: The bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of the session in which the bill is passed.
