Background: The County Road Administration Board (CRAB) is composed of six county legislative authority members and three county engineer members.

Three of these members are from counties with a population of 125,000 or more. Four are from counties with a population from 20,000 to less than 125,000, and two are from counties with a population of less than 20,000. No more than one member can be from any one county.

Summary of Bill: Three members of the CRAB shall be from counties with a population of 150,000 or more. Four members shall be from counties with a population from 30,000 to less than 150,000, and two members shall be from counties with a population of less than 30,000.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

Staff Summary of Public Testimony: PRO: The composition and qualifications for the County Road Administration Board are set in statute.  This legislation is needed to adjust the population thresholds to keep up with changes in the overall population.  The last change was in 2005 and this provides a needed update since that time.
