Background: In 2009, the Legislature established the Washington State Center for Childhood Deafness and Hearing Loss to perform the following functions:
manage and direct the supervision of the Washington State School for the Deaf;
provide statewide leadership for coordinating and delivering educational services to children who are deaf or hard of hearing; and
collaborate with appropriate public and private partners for training and professional development for educators serving children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Summary of Bill: The name of the Washington State Center for Childhood Deafness and Hearing Loss is changed to the Washington Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Youth, and statutory references are changed accordingly.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
