On page 3, after line 18, insert the following:
"(4) When regulating accessory dwelling units within urban growth areas, cities and counties must require that any attached or detached accessory dwelling unit on a lot is covered by a homeowner's insurance policy or landlord insurance policy unless the unit is already covered as part of or under a homeowner's insurance policy for the principal unit on the lot."
EFFECT: Requires GMA cities and counties to require that ADUs are covered under a homeowner's insurance policy or landlord insurance policy unless the ADU is already covered under the principal unit's homeowner's insurance policy.
