On page 2, after line 22, insert the following:
"(3) The Washington state energy code and the statewide residential reach code must allow for the use of gas fireplaces and other nonelectric secondary sources for space heating in residential buildings sufficient to provide for backup heat in the event of a power outage."
EFFECT: Requires the Washington state energy code and statewide residential reach code to allow for the use of nonelectric fireplaces and other secondary space heating sources.
