On page 2, after line 17 of the striking amendment, insert the following:

"(c) In the ordinance or resolution imposing the tax under this section, the county, city, or town imposing the tax must exempt any property owned by a person whose income is at or below 100 percent of the median income of the county, city, or town imposing the tax. The ordinance or resolution imposing the tax must provide a method for an individual claiming the exemption to submit information to the county, city, or town to verify that they qualify for the exemption."

EFFECT: Requires a county, city, or town to exempt from the short-term rental excise tax any property owned by a person whose income is at or below 100 percent of the median income of the county, city, or town, and to provide a method by which a person claiming the exemption can verify that they qualify.
