Brief Description: Requiring the use of a turn signal to indicate that a vehicle is about to exit a circular intersection.

Brief Summary of Bill
  • Requires a vehicle in a circular intersection to activate a turn signal when approaching the position to be used to exit the circular intersection.

Background:

A driver must signal of an intention to turn or move right or left continuously and for no less than 100 feet before turning on a roadway.  The penalty for failure to signal, inclusive of fees and assessments, is $139.

 

A "circular intersection" is defined as an intersection characterized by a circulatory roadway, generally circular in design, located in the center of the intersection, and includes roundabouts, rotaries, and traffic circles.

Summary of Bill:

A driver must signal of an intention to exit a circular intersection continuously when approaching the position to be used to exit the circular intersection.

Effective Date: The bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of the session in which the bill is passed.
