On page 5, after line 10, insert the following:

"(a) The judicial officer presiding over the hearing must make written findings regarding why the early release of the defendant should be prioritized over the inevitable harm of unexpected early release that will be inflicted upon the victim or victim’s surviving family;"

Renumber the remaining subsections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

EFFECT: Requires the judicial officer presiding over a hearing on a petition for a modification of sentence to make specified written findings when modifying the sentence.
