On page 2, line 10, after "(2)" insert "The requirement to produce a valid permit to purchase firearms under subsection (1)(a) of this section does not apply to any person who is a resident of a frontier county. For the purposes of this subsection, "frontier county" means a county with a population density of fewer than 50 persons per square mile as determined by the office of financial management and published each year by the department of commerce.

Renumber the remaining subsections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

EFFECT: Exempts residents of frontier counties from the requirement to have a permit to purchase firearms in order to purchase a firearm. Defines "frontier county" as a county with a population density of fewer than 50 persons per square mile as determined by the Office of Financial Management and published by the Department of Commerce.
