On page 10, beginning on line 29, after "(f) To" strike all material through "(g)" on line 31 and insert "receive)) (c) Receive immediate notification if a criminal action is deemed to have been committed against their child or by their child including, as required by RCW 28A.320.160, immediate notification if their child is alleged to be the victim, target, or recipient of an allegation of sexual misconduct by a school employee;

Renumber the remaining subsections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

On page 14, after line 8, insert the following:

"Sec. RCW 28A.320.160 and 2005 c 274 s 244 are each amended to read as follows:

School districts must((, at the first opportunity but in all cases within forty-eight hours of receiving a report alleging sexual misconduct by a school employee,)) immediately notify the parents or legal guardians of a student alleged to be the victim, target, or recipient of ((the)) an allegation of sexual misconduct by a school employee. School districts shall provide parents and legal guardians with information regarding their rights under the public records act, chapter 42.56 RCW, to request the public records regarding school employee discipline. This information shall be provided to all parents and legal guardians on an annual basis."

EFFECT: (1) Restores provisions granting parents and guardians the right to receive immediate notification if a criminal action is deemed to have been committed against their child or by their child.

(2) Makes an allegation of sexual misconduct by a school employee against a student subject to the school-based notification requirements for parents and legal guardians in the delineated list of parent and legal guardian rights.

(3) Requires school districts to immediately notify the parents or legal guardians of a student alleged to be the victim, target, or recipient of an allegation of sexual misconduct by a school employee, rather than at the first opportunity but in all cases within 48 hours of receiving such a report.

(4) Makes requirements of school districts to notify parents about their public records rights with respect to school employee discipline records also applicable to legal guardians.
