On page 1, beginning on line 20 of the striking amendment, after "ranks" strike all material through "work" on page 2, line 8
On page 5, beginning on line 3 of the striking amendment, beginning with "((Every" strike all material through "officers." on line 9 and insert "Every citizen shall lend the police chief aid, when required, for the arrest of offenders and maintenance of public order. With the concurrence of the mayor, the police chief may appoint additional police officers to serve for one day only under orders of the chief in the preservation of public order."
On page 5, beginning on line 25 of the striking amendment, after "deputies" strike all material through "order))" on line 27 and insert ", police officers, and watchpersons. Every citizen shall lend him or her aid, when required, for the arrest of offenders and maintenance of public order"
On page 5, beginning on line 30 of the striking amendment, after "council." strike all material through "officers" on line 35 and insert "With the concurrence of the mayor, the marshal may appoint additional police officers for one day only when necessary for the preservation of public order"

Renumber the remaining sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

Renumber the remaining sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.
| EFFECT: Removes language: 1) limiting the use of volunteers by law enforcement agencies; 2) requiring agency policies and regulations to include such limitations on volunteers and limitations on the authority of, and requirements for, specially commissioned officers; and 3) requiring local jurisdictions that use or have law enforcement agencies that use volunteers or specially commissioned officers to adopt or amend their laws and ordinances to comply with the limitations for volunteers and requirements for volunteers and specially commissioned officers. Reinstates language providing for citizens to lend police chiefs or marshals aid, when required, for the arrest of persons and maintenance of public order. Reinstates language providing that, with the consent of the mayor, the police chief or marshal may appoint additional police officers for one day only when necessary. |
