EFFECT: Removes language providing that all files and other information obtained as part of the background investigation for peace officers and corrections officers are confidential and exempt from public disclosure. Removes language providing that the verification by the Criminal Justice Training Commission (CJTC) that the background investigation has been completed is a public record. Removes the requirement for the CJTC to retain the background investigation files.
