On page 2, line 14, after "(2)" strike "and (3)" and insert "through (4)"

On page 2, after line 30, insert the following:

"(4) The department shall contract with an independent advocate to monitor the transition of each individual affected by the closure in subsection (1) of this section to ensure compliance with each individual's care plan and the conditions established in subsection (3) of this section. The department shall consult with the office of the developmental disabilities ombuds in the independent advocate selection process to assure that the applicants under consideration are familiar with the needs and rights of persons with developmental disabilities."

EFFECT: Directs the Department of Social and Health Services (Department) to contract with an independent advocate to monitor the transition of each individual affected by the closure of the Rainier School to ensure compliance with the individual's care plan and the conditions related to the transition of the individual. Requires the Department to consult with the Office of the Developmental Disabilities Ombuds in the selection process to assure that the applicants under consideration are familiar with the needs and rights of persons with developmental disabilities.
