On page 5, after line 34, insert the following:

"NEW SECTION. Sec. 7. (1) The department of commerce shall conduct an economic impact study to determine the economic impact on the towns, cities, and regions impacted by the closure of the Rainier school as provided in this act.

(2) By November 1, 2028, and in compliance with RCW 43.01.036, the department of commerce shall submit a report to the legislature and the governor that details the economic impact on the towns, cities, and regions impacted by the closure of the Rainier school as provided in this act."

Renumber the remaining sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.

EFFECT: Requires the Department of Commerce to conduct an economic impact study to determine the economic impact on the towns, cities, and regions impacted by the closure of the Rainier school and provide a report that details this economic impact to the Legislature and the Governor by November 1, 2028.
