On page 5, line 26 of the striking amendment, after "(11)" insert "In any investigation under this section where the attorney general has reason to believe that the matter being investigated may also be a criminal law violation, the attorney general shall notify and consult with the law enforcement agency with primary territorial jurisdiction, as defined in RCW 10.93.020, over the potential criminal law violation to identify and address potential conflicts between investigations. If the subject of the attorney general's investigation is a law enforcement agency, the attorney general's consultation must be with the state or federal law enforcement agency with authority to investigate the potential criminal law violation by the subject law enforcement agency, such as the county sheriff, Washington state patrol, or federal bureau of investigation.

EFFECT: Requires the Attorney General when investigating a matter that may also be a criminal law violation to consult with the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the potential criminal violation to identify and address potential conflicts between investigations. Provides that if a law enforcement agency is the subject of the Attorney General's investigation, the consultation must be with the state of federal law enforcement agency with authority to investigate the potential criminal law violation by the subject law enforcement agency, such as the county sheriff, Washington State Patrol, or Federal Bureau of Investigation.
