On page 5, line 28 of the striking amendment, after "statutes." insert the following:

"NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. A new section is added to chapter 43.10 RCW to read as follows:

The attorney general must prepare an annual report detailing any use of the civil investigative demand authority granted under section 1 of this act. The report must include, but is not limited to: investigations in which civil investigative demands were issued; and the costs associated with the civil investigative demand process, including costs for attorney general's office staff time and contract attorneys, and the costs to any person, entity, or government agency required to comply with a civil investigative demand, including costs associated with staff time and attorney time. The attorney general must submit the annual report to the appropriate committees of the legislature by December 1st of each year and make the report publicly available on its website."

EFFECT: Requires the Attorney General to issue an annual report that is posted on its website and submitted to the Legislature detailing any use of the civil investigative demand authority granted under the act, including investigations in which civil investigative demands were issued and the costs associated with the civil investigative demand process for both the Office of the Attorney General and the persons or entities required to comply with civil investigative demands.
