On page 5, line 28 of the striking amendment, after "statutes." insert the following:

"(12) Any person or entity served with a civil investigative demand issued under this section is entitled to retain an attorney, at the expense of the office of the attorney general, to provide legal counsel to the person or entity in responding to and complying with the demand. The office of the attorney general must reimburse the person or entity for reasonable attorneys' fees incurred by the party or entity in complying with the civil investigative demand or bringing an action under subsection (9) of this section."

EFFECT: Provides that a person or entity served with a civil investigative demand is entitled to retain an attorney at the expense of the Attorney General's Office (AGO). Requires the AGO to reimburse the person or entity for reasonable attorneys' fees incurred by the party or entity in complying with the civil investigative demand or bringing an action in court to modify or set aside the demand or to require the Attorney General to perform a duty imposed by the act.
