Beginning on page 42, line 36, strike all of section 29 and insert the following:
"NEW SECTION. Sec. 29. Within 30 business days after receipt of all the requested additional information, an insurer must pay a claim for benefits under a supplemental long-term care insurance policy or certificate if it is a clean claim, or send a written notice that the insurer is declining to pay all or part of the claim and the specific reason or reasons for denial."
EFFECT: Removes the provisions requiring benefit denials with an explanation within 30 days after receipt of a written request; and instead provides that within 30 business days after receipt of all the requested additional information, an insurer must pay a claim for benefits under a supplemental long-term care insurance policy or certificate if it is a clean claim, or send a written notice that the insurer is declining to pay all or part of the claim, and the specific reason or reasons for denial.
