AN ACT Relating to voter registration; and amending RCW 29.10.050.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

        Sec. 1.  Section 29.10.050, chapter 9, Laws of 1965 and RCW 29.10.050 are each amended to read as follows:

          Any registered voter who changes his or her name ((by marriage, or otherwise in the manner provided by law,)) shall register anew unless the change is the result of marriage.  In the latter case, the voter may choose to retain the premarital name for voting purposes so long as the voter retains sufficient identification under that name; otherwise, the voter whose name is changed as a result of marriage shall also register anew.
