AN ACT Relating to acquired immune deficiency syndrome; and adding a new chapter to Title 70 RCW.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "aids" means acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. (1) The names of individuals taking aids tests shall not be made public or otherwise disclosed nor recorded by any state or local health department.
(2) The tracing of sexual contacts by an aids test recipient without permission of the test recipient is prohibited.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 3. (1) An employer or insurance company shall not require that an individual disclose the results of an aids test as a condition of employment or insurance coverage.
(2) An employer or insurance company is prohibited from inquiring of an individual as to whether the individual has been tested for aids.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 4. An employer or insurance company shall not require that an individual be tested for aids as a condition of employment or obtaining insurance coverage.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 5. Sections 1 through 4 of this act shall constitute a new chapter in Title 70 RCW.
