AN ACT Relating to initiative and referendum advertising; and adding a new section to chapter 29.79 RCW.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 29.79 RCW to read as follows:
All advertising for or against any initiative or referendum measure shall contain the ballot title of the measure. Printed advertisements shall display the ballot title in type no smaller than that used for the majority of the other text in the advertisement. The ballot title shall be clearly and audibly read in all radio and television advertisements, or appear in visual form on television in a size and of a duration that enables a person with average eyesight and reading speed to read the ballot title. This section does not apply to buttons, bumper stickers, or other novelty forms of advertising.
