AN ACT Relating to water quality; creating a new section; and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. In order to protect water quality, the department of ecology shall review existing standards for pretreatment of industrial wastewater that is ultimately discharged into Puget Sound. The standards shall be revised, if necessary, to reflect all known available and reasonable technology. The department of ecology shall report its conclusions to the legislature by January 1, 1986.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, the support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
