TO THE HONORABLE RONALD REAGAN, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, AND TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE AND THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, AND TO THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNITED STATES, IN CONGRESS ASSEMBLED:

          We, your Memorialists, the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Washington, in legislative session assembled, respectfully represent and petition as follows:

          WHEREAS, Inflation not only erodes the buying power of the individual but also of local and state governments; and

          WHEREAS, Many of our citizens are forced to exist on fixed incomes and thus have less purchasing power each year; and

          WHEREAS, State and local governments are being forced to supply funds for economic development because of excessive private capital being invested in the federal debt, thus lessening funds available to individual citizens, individual businesses, and local governments; and

          WHEREAS, We are forcing our children to bear an ever increasing burden of debt and the resulting higher taxes;

          NOW, THEREFORE, Your Memorialists respectfully pray that deficit spending be eliminated and extreme efforts be made to reduce the present federal debt and to eliminate this debt in its entirety as soon as possible.

          BE IT RESOLVED, That copies of this Memorial be immediately transmitted to the Honorable Ronald Reagan, President of the United States, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and each member of Congress from the State of Washington.
