AN ACT Relating to public transportation benefit areas; and adding a new section to chapter 36.57A RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 36.57A RCW to read as follows:

          A public transportation benefit area receiving state motor vehicle excise tax moneys in which there is an airport served by a scheduled air carrier certified by the federal aviation administration, with authority to operate under part 121 of the Federal Aviation Regulations or its successor, promulgated under the authority of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 (49 U.S.C. 1301 et seq.) as amended, shall maintain scheduled bus service to that airport and at such times as reasonably to serve the public.
