AN ACT Relating to public assistance payments to landlords for the purpose of rent; and adding a new section to chapter 74.04 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 74.04 RCW to read as follows:

          A person receiving public assistance pursuant to any of the programs specified in RCW 74.04.050 may direct the secretary, in writing, if permitted under such programs, to make payments of the installments of public assistance or any portion thereof to a landlord as defined in RCW  59.18.030 for the purpose of paying rent.  Such persons, upon furnishing the secretary with a written request, may have such payments discontinued.
