                                    SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 104

WHEREAS, Washington's Juvenile Justice Act envisions the joint action of the Legislature and the juvenile disposition standards commission in determining disposition standards to be used in sentencing convicted juvenile offenders; and

          WHEREAS, It is the responsibility of the juvenile disposition standards commission under RCW 13.40.030 to submit to the Legislature by November 1 of each even-numbered year proposed disposition standards for all offenses; and

          WHEREAS, It is the responsibility of the Legislature under RCW 13.40.030 to review the commission's proposed standards and adopt them or refer them to the commission for modification, as the Legislature deems appropriate; and

          WHEREAS, The commission has submitted its proposed standards in a timely fashion; and

          WHEREAS, The commission's recommendations have been presented to and reviewed by the appropriate standing committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives; and

          WHEREAS, The disposition standards recommended by the commission further the purposes of the Juvenile Justice Act as set forth in RCW 13.40.010;

          NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, By the Senate of the State of Washington, the House of Representatives concurring, That the Legislature, in accordance with the provisions of RCW 13.40.030(3), adopts the disposition standards as submitted by the juvenile disposition standards commission.
