BACKGROUND:

Adult driver's licenses are distinguished from minor driver's licenses by color and are issued by the Department of Licensing to all drivers eighteen years old and older.  Minor driver's licenses are issued to drivers sixteen years old and under eighteen years of age.  Persons having minor driver's licenses may request an adult driver's license at the time of attaining eighteen years of age without a fee charged.

SUMMARY:

The definition and all references to "adult driver's license" and "minor driver's license" are repealed.  The Department of Licensing is authorized to provide for a method to distinguish all driver's licenses issued to persons under twenty-one years of age from those twenty-one years of age and older.
