SUMMARY:

Until June 30, 1987, a local government elected official who reentered service and failed to restore withdrawn contributions may restore these contributions, with interest, only for the period served as a nonelected official.  Local officials who retired between April 4, 1986 and June 30, 1987, may also restore such withdrawn contributions.

House Committee - Testimony For:    The 1986 "open window" bill overlooked local elected officials.  This bill would provide the same opportunity to those officials that is available to other members of PERS.  Only four members are known to be affected.
