AS PASSED HOUSE MARCH 12, 1987
BACKGROUND:
Many state agencies are required by statute to send certain of their publications directly to all state legislators. Such reporting requirements have resulted in a considerable volume of agency publications in legislators' mail.
Legislation (HB 25) was introduced earlier this session to reduce the volume of agency publications by modifying or eliminating over one hundred statutory reporting requirements.
SUMMARY:
The volume of state agency publications received by state legislators is reduced through their distribution.
The State Publications Center in the State Library is designated the sole distributor of those state publications that all state legislators must, by law, have made available to them. The State Library shall regularly send each legislator a listing of available publications. State agencies may distribute publications directly to a legislator at his or her request.
The bill does not apply to internally distributed legislative publications.
