BACKGROUND:

Any county, city, town, municipal corporation or quasi municipal corporation may provide utility services at reduced rates for low income senior citizens.  However, similar authority does not exist for a reduction of rates for low income disabled citizens.

SUMMARY:

Any county, city, town, municipal corporation or quasi municipal corporation may provide utility services at reduced rates for low income disabled citizens.

House Committee - Testimony For:    There is a need for assisting low-income disabled persons just as there is for low-income senior citizens now allowed.  The bill is tightly drawn so as to limit the applicability of the bill to those truly in need.
