AS PASSED HOUSE MARCH 3, 1988
BACKGROUND:
The Code Reviser compiles the statutory law of the State of Washington as it is enacted by the Legislature under the general supervision of the Statute Law Committee.
The Statute Law Committee, established in 1951, consists of twelve lawyer members representing the Legislature, the Judicial Branch, the State Bar Association, and the two major political parties.
The Code Reviser is authorized to make technical changes that do not substantively change or alter the purpose and intent of legislative enactments. Either the Statute Law Committee or the Code Reviser has the responsibility to make written recommendations to the Legislature in the form of proposed legislation that corrects or removes deficiencies, conflicts, or obsolete provisions of Washington statutes. The proposed legislation must contain a statement of history, purpose, and reasons for the change.
The 1987 Legislature changed the Department of Game, the Game Commission, and the Game Fund to the Department of Wildlife, the Wildlife Commission, and the Wildlife Fund. Not all statutory references to this change in designation were made in the 1987 bill.
In 1986, the Governor vetoed a provision creating the Aquaculture Advisory Council. Not all statutory references to the Council have been deleted.
SUMMARY:
References to the Department of Game, the Game Commission, and the Game Fund are corrected to read the Department of Wildlife, the Wildlife Commission, and the Wildlife Fund, and references to the Aquaculture Advisory Council and to proposals that have already been submitted to the Legislature are deleted.
Fiscal Note: Not Requested.
