BYSenators Newhouse, Vognild, Hayner, Benitz, Garrett and Warnke
Revising provisions for sales by liquor control board stores.
Senate Committee on Economic Development & Labor
Senate Hearing Date(s):January 29, 1988
Senate Staff:Stephen Boruchowitz (786-7429)
AS OF JANUARY 21, 1988
BACKGROUND:
Under current law, Washington State Liquor Control Board stores cannot sell liquor on Sundays. Experience has shown that in some unique cases, lack of liquor sales at locations serving tourists and travelers to and through Washington has been detrimental to business. Such locations see most of their weekly visitors on Sunday.
SUMMARY:
If the Liquor Control Board determines that at an individual store, based on unique circumstances, sales of liquor on Sunday are needed to meet needs of visitors to Washington state, such sales are not subject to Sunday sales provisions.
Appropriation: none
Revenue: none
