AN ACT Relating to the protection of water from contamination by landfills; and adding a new section to chapter 70.95 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 70.95 RCW to read as follows:

          Any county, city, or other person operating a solid waste disposal site shall monitor annually the drinking water from wells that are adjacent to and within three miles of the solid waste disposal site.  Additionally, the county, city, or other person operating the solid waste disposal site shall provide a free filtration system or systems for these adjacent wells and for any water district lines within three miles of the solid waste disposal site.
