AN ACT Relating to prohibiting the sale or use of tributyltin in paints; and adding a new section to chapter 70.54 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 70.54 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) The use of tributyltin in paints, the sale of tributyltin for use in paints, and the sale of paints containing tributyltin is prohibited as of January 1, 1988.

          (2) The department of ecology shall be responsible for enforcing this section.  The department of ecology shall adopt rules to carry out this section.
