WHEREAS, Substitute Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 120 of the 1983 regular session of the Washington state legislature created the Joint Select Committee on Telecommunications; and
WHEREAS, SSCR No. 120 authorized the committee to study recent technological, structural, and regulatory changes in the telecommunications industry and to review the impact of these changes on residential, business, and governmental consumers in Washington state and on the state's regulatory scheme; and
WHEREAS, House Concurrent Resolution No. 7 of the 1985 regular session continued and extended the joint select committee; and
WHEREAS, The joint select committee operated throughout the 1986 interim, working on telecommunications issues;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring, That the committee and its staff and budget be continued through the 1987 regular legislative session and until the end of the 1987 fiscal biennium on June 30, 1987, in order that the committee's activities may be concluded. The current chairman and committee members shall continue. The Speaker of the House of Representatives shall appoint one member to fill the current vacancy on the committee.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the committee shall continue to operate during this period subject to all conditions set forth in 1985 HCR No. 7.
