AN ACT Relating to improper governmental action; and adding a new section to chapter 42.40 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 42.40 RCW to read as follows:

          An employee who reports information of improper governmental action as defined in RCW 42.40.020(3) to any state legislator or staff person acting on the legislator's behalf shall be entitled to protection from reprisal or retaliatory action as defined in RCW 42.40.050(3).  If the employee is subjected to reprisal or retaliatory action as a result of such reporting, the employee may seek judicial review of the reprisal or retaliatory action in superior court, whether or not there has been an administrative review of the action.
