AN ACT Relating to compensation of teachers for in-service training and education; and adding a new section to chapter 28A.71 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 28A.71 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) Certificated personnel shall receive one college credit on the salary schedule developed by the legislative evaluation and accountability program committee for each ten clock hours of approved in-service training attended.

          (2) Certified personnel shall receive one college credit on the salary schedule developed by the legislative evaluation and accountability program committee for each ten clock hours of continuing education received as defined by rule adopted by the superintendent of public instruction.

          (3) Certificated personnel shall not be required to attend an in-service training program unless the program is approved.

          (4) An approved in-service training program is a program approved by an in-service training task force under RCW 28A.71.210.
